In this week’s Spirit of Acadiana, KATC’s Scott Brazda visits the spirit of Christmas present through a symbol of the season.

It’s a symbol of the holidays. One that for some represents everlasting life. But regardless of what it means to you and your family, one thing is certain, a Christmas tree is an essential part of celebrating the most wonderful time of the year.

And Pollard’s Tree Farm has been making sure Lafayette residents find the perfect tree for their homes for 36 years.

“It’s a home away from home,” says tree farm owner Jeffery Pollard. “It’s always bittersweet to leave.”

Fresh Fraser Firs from big to small line the farm’s three locations on Ridge Road, Albertson Parkway, and Pinhook Road in Lafayette. Brought in all the way from North Carolina, these trees are carefully tended and are guaranteed by the Pollards to be an ideal fit for your home.

And, of course, they offer sound advice on how to keep your tree “everlasting.”

“Watch water levels. If it’s near a heat vent, make sure the heat vent is off as the tree starts to dry.”

Other advice for making that tree last all season long, “keep them away from big picture windows,” says Pollard. “It bakes the tree through the window and magnifies the sun.”
