Acadiana Animal Aid joined GMA this morning to share more information on their “I Read to Animals” Program.

The program partners local school children with certified therapy animals to facilitate reading and socialization. Elementary students will read stories based on humane education. Deborah Clothier and her therapy dog Soloman joined GMA with more.

Soloman is registered with Pet Partners, a local therapy dog group, and makes trips with Deborah to hospitals and schools to visit with people for therapy sessions. Soloman and dogs like him actively participate in Animal Aid’s “I Read to Animals” Program.

Children participating in the program receive a stuffed animal upon completion and are encouraged to continue reading to their own pets and family.

Educators and organizations interested in getting involved with the program can contact Acadiana Animal Aid at development@acadianaanimalaid.org.
