Life after the military can sometimes be difficult to navigate, but Tyrone Lewis stopped by GMA this morning to tell us about one program at UL Lafayette that is designed to ease the transition from service to student.
This program is called Veterans Upward Bound, and its purpose is to provide academic support and services to eligible veterans. These services will be provided to assist veterans in reaching their academic goals. Through this program, veterans can receive college preparation, evening classes, GED preparation, travel stipends, vocational preparation, assistance with financial aid, ACT/SAT preparation, and so much more.
Orientation for the fall project of Veterans Upward Bound is taking place on Saturday, August 24th. It's happening in room 103 at UL Lafayette's Moody Hall, located at 214 Hebrard Blvd. The fall program starts on September 3.
Breakfast will be provided and starts at 8:00 am. The orientation begins at 8:30 am.
For more information on the program, the application process, or the fall orientation, contact the program's Assistant Director, Mrs. Linda Williams-Cockrell, at (337) 482-5835.
