In honor of Veterans Day this Monday, UL Lafayette is participating in National Roll Call - an event that is synchronized with campuses across the nation.

At 1:00 p.m in the UL Lafayette student union courtyard, there will be a minute of silence to honor and recognize fallen service members that have died this year. During this time, UL Lafayette student veterans organization members will conduct a roll call of names of fallen veterans. These names were provided by faculty, staff, and students.

The Commissioner of Veterans Affairs for the State of Louisiana and the Commander of the Order of the Purple Heart will be guests speakers at the event.

The roll call honors those who have served, are currently serving, and those we have lost. The National Roll Call project aims to make Veterans Day on every campus a special time of appreciation and reflection.

If you have someone that you would like recognized, you can submit their name to veterans@louisiana.edu.

Volunteers for the event are also needed. Those interested can send an email to the above address.

Other UL Lafayette events honoring Veterans and active military next week include Stuff the Boat event on November 12.

During this event, the organization collects non perishable food items, toiletries, and basic hygiene products for St. Michael's, St. Joseph's Diner, and The Emily House.
