St. Martin Parish College and Career Center helps students achieve goals

The Saint Martin Parish college and career readiness center has many programs to push education forward for high school students in St. Martin Parish schools.

Abby Breidenbach was LIVE on Tuesday, September 24 with more details on the programs offered at the center.

St. Martin Parish College and Career Center helps students achieve goals (pt 2)

The students earn 2 high school credits and industry based certification and college credit. Transportation is provided by St. Martin Parish School Board so students can spend half the day at the College and Career Readiness center.

Prostart is a national program that develops restaurant and foodservice industry leaders.

The nursing assistant program provides the students with the knowledge and skills to pass the state nursing assistant certification test.

The process production program gives the students the general understanding of several types of production processes. The students achieve industry certification in production safety systems (t2).

The school also has a cosmetology program, providing the students with an introduction to haircare, skin care and nail care.

The electrician program provides students with electrical level 1 craft curriculum and the choice to continue to electrical level 2. The program prepares students to work in the electrical field. This program is expanding through a new partnership with SLCC.

The JROTC (junior reserve officer training corps) teaches cadets character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, diversity, and promotes citizenship.
