A Mass of Petition celebrating the life of Charlene Richard, the "Little Cajun Saint," will take place on Friday, August 9 in Richard.

2019 marks the 60th anniversary of her death.

Bonnie Broussard stopped by GMA to talk about the annual event.

The Mass will begin at 6:00 pm on Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard. A rosary will be prayed beginning at 5:30 pm prior to the start of Mass.

The Mass is held each year by the Friends of Charlene Richard Association.

Thousands of people from around the world make the pilgrimage to Richard’s grave each year. The "Little Cajun Saint" is said to have performed several miracles during her short life and is believed by the faithful to continue to work miracles in death.

Charlene died of acute lymphatic leukemia on August 11, 1959 at the age of 12. Her family has been working to get her canonized by the Catholic Church.
