Lafayette General will be hosting a stroke screening event for the public next month.

The Stroke Screening event will take place on November 16, 2019 at Lafayette General. The screening event is aimed at diagnosing and looking at risk factors and will include:

  • Carotid-Artery Screening
  • Total Cholesterol & Diabetic Screening
  • Blood PRessure & Heart Rate Checks
  • Stroke Risk Assesment
  • Physicians available to read results

LGH says that fasting is recommended, but not required. Do not skip your medications.

Patients will receive a number of tests to check for the risk of strokes. A specialist will be on hand to go over the results, telling patients how to keep the risk factors at bay.

Registration is by appointment only and is completely free. Call 337-289-7390 for registration.

Organizers say that warning signs for a stroke include balance, vision lose, changes in the face, and slurred speech. Time is the most important factor for those who may be experiencing a stroke.
