Next month, the first ever 2019 Witches Ride will take off in Sugar Mill Pond Saturday, October 19 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

The ride will honor Dodi Groves, an Acadiana wife, mother and Lafayette Parish educator who lost her battle with breast cancer.

A 5K bike ride begins at 5:30 pm. Participants are encouraged to dress up in their "Witch's Best" in the spirit of Halloween and a cure.

Those without bikes can walk or run the 5K.

A survivor celebration kicks-off the event at 4:00 pm at Romacelli in Youngsville.

The family-friendly, fall festival will also feature a designated trick-or-treat area, kids activities, food and drinks.

Breast cancer survivors will be honored with a pinning ceremony on stage at 6:15 pm. KATC's Katie Lopez will emcee the ceremony.

To register for the Dodi Groves Memorial Witches Ride head to www.AcadianaWitchesRide.com.

Registration costs for the ride are as follows:

  • Breast Cancer Survivors - $20 (includes the pinning ceremony cost and a commemorative t-shirt)
  • Ages 8 and up - $25
  • Ages 7 and under - Free

Packet Pick-Up will take place at Courtesy Lincoln in Lafayette on Friday, October 18 from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
