The funeral is set for Friday, January 31 at 11:00 at the Bayou Church on Kaliste Saloom Road.

On Tuesday night, Carter's Spartan soccer teammates paid tribute to the teen before their evening game against New Iberia.

The team brought Matthew's jersey onto center field during pre-game introductions.

Matthew's dad, who is also the team's coach, was there for pre-game.

Last night's game, a 1-all draw, was the first home game for the Spartans since Matthew's death.
