Foster the Love Louisiana will host their first-ever 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, October 31st.

The event will happen in The Square at River Ranch at 8 am.

There will be fun jumps, a costume contest, prizes for those winners, and music.

A representative from Buckle Up Louisiana will be present to demonstrate the proper way to install a car seat.

If you have questions about adopting, Louisiana Heart Gallery will be there to answer questions about adopting children who are adoption eligible.

Organizers say, after a roller coaster 2020, they are prepared for anything and ready to go all virtual if they have to go virtual.

Shala Wall is a volunteer and foster parent.

She said many kids do not get a chance to pack a bag before they are taken from their homes.

She said events, like the 5k, help them to stock up on these items and makes the process the process that much easier.

"I was a foster parent who got a kid at 10 at night," Walls explained. "I had to run to Walmart and buy the kid all of this stuff because she didn't have anything. We've been in this for five years and have had several kids in that situation."
