The "Cruising for Scholarships" Fundraiser to support the UL Kinesiology Department is now underway.

Carol Trosclair and Jon Crittenden joined GMA to tell us more about the fundraiser and how to get your tickets.

Cruising for Scholarships

Since 2011, Carol and the students of UL Lafayette's Kinesiology Department have raised money for the "David Trosclair Memorial Scholarship in Kinesiology."

The scholarship, established by UL, honors the academic success and legacy of Carol's son David who passed away unexpectedly in 2010.

In order to carry on that legacy and help other kinesiology students realize David's dream of becoming a physical therapist, the "Cruising for Scholarships" fundraiser was born.

Tickets are $10 and offer a chance to win a Customizable Caribbean Cruise for 2 among other free gifts.

Trosclair says that all of the money collected from the fundraiser go directly to the scholarship.

Crittenden who was the recipient of last year's scholarship says that the award has become a great support for several students.

"This is truly hope for a lot of us," he said. "We struggle out there, we have to go to school full time with jobs to support ourselves. This is a blessing."

Tickets can be picked up at Roly Poly locations, Travel Machine in Lafayette or by calling Trosclair at 337-255-8155.

Those interested in purchasing a ticket have until Tuesday, November 19 to do so.

The fundraiser is made possible with the help of Impact Acadiana.
