The City of Crowley plans to come together in what they're saying will be a rally for peace. Wednesday night this was a topic among all of the city's leaders before the council meeting.

The second rally is set for Saturday June 13th at the MLK Center. These rallies are being organized by officials including Councilman Vernon "Step" Martin who put the plan together with Police Chief Jimmy Broussard. They say it is all about coming together and showing the city they are a team, all on the side of peace.

"We're going to try and keep this peaceful," says Martin. "I don't care where you're from what color you are, come in peace. No justice, no peace. But if you give me just a little bit of justice i promise a lot of peace."

The elected officials from Crowley are calling on the rest of Acadia parish to join in this rally.

"We hope for it to be parish wide because we want this to be with an Acadia Parish theme," says Martin. "The mayor from Rayne, Church Point, the councils - we want everybody to come in. In other words make it a gumbo, everybody throw in the gumbo and in the end, we're all in," he adds.

Chief Broussard says the rally will be held on the 13th at 10 a.m. A group will begin at St. Theresa Park on West Third Street and a group will start at Levy Park on East Third Street. Both groups will meet on Third Street and Parkerson and will march as one body up Parkerson Ave. to the Courthouse lawn. A small program will be held on the lawn.
