On Thursday, February 13, Chez Hope will host a Teen Dating Violence Awareness event at the St. Martin Training Academy.

The event is focused on equipping teens and young adults with the tools they need to recognize the signs of abuse.

The St. Martinville Police Department and Chez Hope representatives will also be on hand to answer any questions.

The event takes place from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm and is open to students from grades 7 - 12. Parents, teachers, administrators, and law enforcement are also invited to attend.

"We're going to have this great opportunity for teens to come together and have these hands on activities where they can ask questions to adults, they can speak among each other, and learn about emotional control and self defense," says Chez Hope Community Advocate Kelli Cantu.

The event is free to attend. Organizers promise treats, music, activities, info booths, door prizes and a good time.
