GMA's Abby Breidenbach was in the Vermilionville kitchen Thursday morning with Chef Delores Sias rolling out sweet dough tortes.

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups of flour
3/4 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoons of nutmeg (optional)
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 pinch of salt
1 egg
1/2 cup of crisco
1/4 cup of milk
INSTRUCTIONS:
Cream the shortening and sugar together.
Add in the egg, milk, and vanilla. mix until thoroughly combined.
Pour in the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. The dough should be the consistency of raw biscuits. If it's not, add more flour a little at a time.
Take one piece of dough and roll out into a circle shape an 1/8-inch thick.
Place your filling in the middle and fold the dough over to make a half moon.
Seal the edges with a fork.
Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees until the dough is light brown.
