After your Mardi Gras balls this season, rather than let that dress collect dust in your closet, why not pass it on?
That's where the Butterfly Effect Project comes into play.
The group provides donated dresses to high school girls who can't afford to buy them for their prom.
The Prom Dress Giveaway event is free for high school-aged girls to participate. Students will be able to take home the dream dress of their choosing by presenting a valid high school ID.
On March 14, girls can head to the Northgate Mall in Lafayette from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm to find their dress.
There is no wait list or reservation for dresses.
Once a dress has been chosen, girls will be able to take a picture with the magic mirror.
There's also an opportunity to win other prizes.
For those interested in donating, Butterfly Effect will be collecting dresses at several locations in Lafayette this spring. Those dresses will then go to local girls to dance away the night when prom rolls around.
Volunteers are also needed for upcoming dress sorting days. The next date is Wednesday, February 5 at the Northgate Mall. To find out more, click here.
