During the slow months of the Coronavirus pandemic, many of us have taken the time to work on self-improvement or conquering goals we previously thought we did not have time for.

The Pitre brothers in Opelousas took the time to do just that. This Thursday they'll open Pitre's Crawfish Shack, something they've wanted to do for quite some time.

"We've actually been ready for probably three to four weeks now," said Crawfish Shack co-owner Benjamin Pitre.

This Thursday, January 28, they'll open Pitre's Crawfish Shack, something Benjamin and his brother Daniel has been wanting to do for quite some time.

"We both love boiling crawfish, we love cooking period," he said. "People always come over and say they love our food."

"It's always been a dream of ours," said Daniel Pitre.

The Opelousas natives are veterans who have hopes beyond making a little cash off the new venture.

"We're more trying to give back. that's why we're offering a 10% veterans discount year round," said Benjamin. "We'll have a month that we're doing first responders, teachers, that are also going to get their discount, so we want to give back to the city that's been great to us."

On their opening day, the duo hopes to quickly becoming a local favorite.

"They got some good restaurants out there but I think we're going to be up there at the top of the line," Daniel said. "They have some competition now and we're excited."

The brothers will post giveaways, promotions and more information here on their Facebook page.
