The St. Martin Council on Aging will conduct its third annual “S. O. S.-Support our Seniors” Walk-a-thon fundraiser on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Parc Hardy, from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. Registration will begin at 8:00 am. An opening ceremony will begin shortly before start time. This will be a family event, so all ages are welcome.

For a second year, a 5K Run has been added. The Run and Walk-a-thon are open to ages 13 years old and up. Walking and/or running on behalf of another person is allowed. In addition to the walk-a-thon and 5k, there will be food, health screenings, a blood drive, and musical entertainment at the event. Area social service agencies will provide blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes checks, and United Blood Bank will conduct a blood drive. There will be fun activities for children and senior games have been added for anyone 60 and older.

This event is an opportunity for healthcare providers, civic groups, local businesses, elected officials, and the residents of St. Martin Parish to come together in an effort to raise much needed funds for our senior population. We encourage individuals to form teams and come out and participate for this worthy cause. The cost for team registration is $100 (teams consist of 5 members). Individual registration is $25. All participants will receive a free t-shirt with the cost of registration.

For more information on the event, call 337-332-3063 or drop by the Sydnie Mae Durand Activity Center.
