So you’ve waited till the last minute. It’s too late to get something shipped and not even Amazon can get you a gift soon enough for the big day.

It’s time to hit the stores and on Christmas Eve you won’t be the only one there.

“On Christmas Eve, it’s a lot of men,” says Caroline and Company manager Anne Marie Kelley. “A lot of last-minute guys that are out shopping so we really make sure we have a lot of extra girls on the floor.”

Some of us shop last minute for the thrill, others are out of time. But for many shoppers, the last day final push is just a fun tradition.

“It always gets done. It’s fun to do and it’s fun to see everyone out shopping,” says Jaime Guidry. “It’s not too stressful it forces you to do it when you’re last minute.”

And when there are so many people to shop for in little time there’s one very easy solution to turn to.

“I have a bunch of employees so I shop for most of my employees, I also have last minute graduation gifts, friends, family, it’s all last minute but it’s so easy to shop locally that’s why I do it,” says Guidry.

Shopping local can lead you to excellent in-person assistance as well as some unique gifts you really won’t find anywhere else.

“We have a lot of great local artists that are really talented so when they ask me a go-to gift it’s the handmade local items,” says Kelley. “A lot of local jewelry makers.”

Stores do tend to close early today so go out and get shopping!
