The Alzheimer’s Association will host their annual Acadiana Walk to End Alzheimer’s event at Blackham Coliseum on Saturday, September 29.
The event begins at 9:00 am with an opening ceremony with the walk to follow at 9:30 am. Organizers ask that those who attend wear purple and white to show their support. The event is the largest fundraiser put on by the association. Funds raised stay in the community to provide educational and support programs and research for the disease.
The event is put on each year to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s and provide a place where caregivers and those living with the disease can find support from their community.
1,100 participated in last year’s event and the association hopes that this year will surpass that number.
