Acadia Parish has now made it easier for residents to access information and legal documentation on a property within the parish.

The parish is the second in Louisiana to offer the service to residents.

The information can be accessed on the Acadia Parish Assessor’s website by clicking on the "maps" tab. Information is provided by the Clerk’s office and includes the history of the property and previous owners. The feature, programmed by C.H. Fenstermaker & Associates, acts as a secure and live connection to courthouse records only available previously at the Acadia Parish Clerk of Court’s Office.

The clerk’s office says that the new access will cut down on researchers having to drive to their office to find and collect documents. The new feature, according to the officials, will provide access to the first three pages of documentation on the property. Each page will cost $2 to access. A secure portal has been set up to accept online payments. Purchased documents will be emailed via PDF to the person requesting.

A tutorial video is posted on the homepage of the assessor’s website directing visitors on how to use the new feature.
