KATC’s Kendria Lafleur is at Ernest Gallet Elementary in Youngsville learning about the creative way students are raising money to benefit their school.

Community Coffe’s Cash for Schools program has helped Earnest Gallet earn $2,796.80 last year for students. Students and parents can clip their proof of purchase from bags of Community Coffee coffee grounds, those UPCs or proof of purchases are then turned in to school and reflect money earned. The money earned last year, according to the elementary school, went into providing student incentives and awards, specifically for their Accelerated Reader program.

Students who achieved their AR goals received a t-shirt last year. The money raised also helped to pay for the school’s end of the year awards ceremony. Medals, certificates, and plaques were purchased and presented to students for positive behavior, AR, Principal’s List, and Honor Roll, among others.

Community Coffee will announce the winners of the winners of this school year’s competitions tomorrow, April 12 at 10 am.
