St. Landry Crime Stoppers: Help needed solving homicide of Kelly Guidry

St. Landry Crime Stoppers is asking for help in solving a homicide.

On January 23, 2021, at 8:27 pm, officers with the Opelousas Police Department were patrolling on North Market St. when they heard multiple gunshots. The officers responded to the area of North Market and Cheney St where the gun shots appeared to be originating, according to a spokesperson for Crime Stoppers. The officers immediately observed the victim, Kelly Guidry lying on the ground having sustained several gunshots.

While the officers were giving Guidry first aid, he was able to inform the officer that two men wearing dark colored clothing were seen fleeing the scene with a rifle. The suspects were last observed running west on the railroad tracks.

After being transported to a local hospital by an ambulance, Kelly Guidry died from his injuries.

During the investigation that followed, the officers discovered that two residences and a vehicle were also struck during the shooting.
