NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana National Guard, as directed by Governor John Bel Edwards, has activated approximately 200 Soldiers and Airmen ahead of Tropical Storm Gordon. Edwards has authorized an additional 150 Guardsmen to assist as needed.

In addition to 35 high-water vehicles and boats staged across the state in possible affected areas, the LANG has four helicopters ready to support search and rescue, evacuation and recon missions as needed.

To help better assist coordination efforts at the local level, the LANG has liaison officer teams in Orleans, Plaquemines, Tangipahoa, St. Bernard, St. Tammany and Washington parishes.
