Church Point Police have arrested a local man on cruelty charges.
Sidney Berard, 48, was arrested on Monday evening after police were called to a disturbance on North Beaugh Street. Officers found a broken window, and witnesses say Berard punched a 15-year-old in the face over a missing cell phone, and bit a 10-year-old on the arm.
Berard was booked with two counts felony cruelty to a juvenile and criminal damage to property. His bond was set at $6,000.
