The Diocese of Lafayette will celebrate Ash Wednesday with a Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
According to the Diocese, the Mass will begin at 12:05 at the Cathedral with Bishop Douglas Deshotel.
Ashes will be distributed differently this year due to the ongoing pandemic.
To reduce contact with those who attend, the Diocese says that there will be no tracing of crosses in ash on foreheads.
Instead, ashes will be sprinkled on the heads of the faithful in silence.
The Mass will be live streamed on the Diocese Facebook page and YouTube channel.
In his Lenten message on Sunday, Bishop Deshotel announced the changes that would be implemented at Ash Wednesday services.
