An audit released Monday morning found that an employee of ARC of Acadiana misappropriated nearly $76,000 from the organization over nearly two years.

The audit states that a discrepancy was found between the amount on a bank deposit slip and the amount recorded on a Sales Recap Form for sales from one store location

An investigation into the discrepancy uncovered that an employee responsible for making the deposit created new deposit slip for a lesser amount.

According to the audit, the employee was linked to several other instances from January 2018 through November 2019 in which nearly $76,000 was misappropriated.

The audit also states that the employee had access to the accounting system and allegedly adjusted the accounting records for the deposits to match the new deposit slip amounts.

The misappropriation, according to the audit, did not involve public funds

In December, the New Iberia Police Department made an arrest in the investigation.

38-year-old Devatrice Wells Hall was booked on charges of theft and computer fraud on Wednesday, December 18 after an investigation began on December 6.
