Recycling will continue at Lafayette High School thanks to Allied Waste.
This morning, the company delivered eight new recycle bins. After our story aired, the director of Allied Waste, Greg Schultz contacted the school saying they'll provide recycling services free of charge.

Recycling could be a thing of the past for several Lafayette Parish schools.
For years, recycling services were free, but starting next month, schools will have to foot the bill.
Every year, Lafayette High recycles more than 120-thousand gallons of material, that's more than 10-thousand gallons each month.... more »

In St. Martin Parish, a group of trustees recently cleaned up up a 25-mile stretch of the western Atchafalaya Basin levee.
Deputy Grover Angelle says, in all, 64 tons of trash filled six giant 20 foot long roll-off dumpsters.

In New Iberia, Allied Disposal will be picking up extra garbage that will overflow regular cans during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Please place overflow in plastic garbage bags and place them along with boxes next to garbage cans.

Allied Waste will not run its residential garbage and yard waste routes tomorrow because of the Memorial Day Holiday. Customers will receive collection the next day, and Friday customers will get pick up on June 4th.
