There are reports of power outages in Kaplan. According to the Kaplan Herald, the main line that feeds Kaplan at the Selmco substations fell. The local Selmco is currently waiting for crews from Lake Charles to come in and assist. more » -

LUS Director Terry Huval says power has now been restored to all LUS customers. About 37,000 of LUS's 60,000 customers were without power starting around 5:15. Power began being restored about 30 minutes later. A transformer failed at the major transmission hub located at the Bonin power plant. more » -

Classes At Westside Elementary Cancelled After Second Power Outage

Classes were out at Westside Elementary in Scott, following a second day of power problems. On Monday, an early morning wreck knocked out power for several hours at the school, but students remained in class. The power went out again at 6:30 AM on Tuesday, so classes were cancelled. more »
