Lafayette Police are investigating a single vehicle crash in the 1000 block of Kaliste Saloom Road.
Police say a male driver knocked down a utility pole with a transformer at Kaliste Saloom Road and John Wayne. There are minor injuries to report.

Crews from across the country are on their way to the northeast to help restore power outages caused by now Tropical Storm Sandy. They're even getting a little bit of help from Acadiana. At least two local companies sent crews to help areas hit by Sandy, CLECO and Entergy.

Power is fully restored to all Slemco customers.
Saturday evening, strong thunderstorms knocked out power to 4500 customers in the Eunice and Washington area. Around 10 Saturday evening, power was restored to half of their customers.

There are reports of power outages in Kaplan. According to the Kaplan Herald, the main line that feeds Kaplan at the Selmco substations fell. The local Selmco is currently waiting for crews from Lake Charles to come in and assist.

Electricity is restored in St. Martinville and in Catahoula and Parks in St. Martin Parish. A St. Martinville City Hall employee says the city was without power for about three hours, and Cleco restored it just before 4:00.

LUS Director Terry Huval says power has now been restored to all LUS customers. About 37,000 of LUS's 60,000 customers were without power starting around 5:15. Power began being restored about 30 minutes later. A transformer failed at the major transmission hub located at the Bonin power plant.

Classes were out at Westside Elementary in Scott, following a second day of power problems. On Monday, an early morning wreck knocked out power for several hours at the school, but students remained in class. The power went out again at 6:30 AM on Tuesday, so classes were cancelled.
