NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Habitat for Humanity has purchased 33 unkempt, scattered-site properties in eastern New Orleans from the Housing Authority of New Orleans. Three families displaced by Hurricane Katrina are planting permanent roots in Lafayette. Crews started constructing their Habitat for Humanity homes with some help from across the country.
