    A former Kaplan police chief has passed away. Thomas "Tommy" Guidry has died, after a battle with cancer. Visitation will be at Vincent Funeral Home, in Kaplan Sunday from 9 am until 10 at night.
  • Funeral Set for Man Killed in Hunting Accident

    Funeral services have been set for the Lafayette man killed yesterday in a hunting accident. 25 year old Ryan Allen Guidry died after being accidentally shot while out hunting with friends in Vermilion Parish. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 o'clock at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette.

  • Deputy on Leave Following Taser Incident

    The deputy who tazed Javon Rakestrau has been put on paid administrative leave. Chris Guidry has been a deputy for two years and before that worked for the UL Police Department. The department is now doing a review of the use of force in this situation.
