Early Tuesday morning, a vehicle fire has closed I -10 East at mile maker 68, near Jennings. Louisiana State Troopers say the vehicle fire involves a semi-truck, and happened around 5:30 a.m. There are also no injuries at this time. More details will be posted as they become available.

Early Wednesday morning, Lafayette fire officials arrived at the 100 block of Dove Circle to a fully engulfed house. Luckily, there are no report of human injuries, but several animals of the residence did not make it out.

For months, vacant or abandoned homes across Kaplan have been going up in flames. Police said the frequent house fires started in February 2010, since then nine homes have burned.
Police believe at least five of those are arson, many of them set within the last few months.

The Kaplan Fire Department is investigating a fire that broke out Saturday morning.
It started at around one am at West 10th and North Wilson Avenue. The structure was an abandoned building and no one was hurt. It's unclear what caused the fire.
