JDPSO: Kinder man arrested for severely beating girlfriend

Posted: Updated:

A Kinder man is accused of attempted manslaughter for allegedly attacking his girlfriend.

In April 2018, the girlfriend of the suspect was admitted into a Lafayette hospital with severe head injuries that required surgery on her brain, according to Chief Deputy Christopher Ivey, spokesman for the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff Office.

On May 10, the victim told a family member who was visiting her in the hospital that her boyfriend, Darrell Comeaux, had severely beat her. The victim tried to leave and Comeaux followed her down the road, stated the Ivey. Comeaux allegedly tackled her and beat her until she blacked out. Detectives were informed of the new information and a warrant was obtained for Comeaux's arrest.

Darrell  Paul Comeaux was booked on one count of attempted manslaughter.

He is being held on $100,000 bond in the Jeff Davis Parish Jail.
