Sunny and Warmer

Posted: Updated:

A chilly start to the work week as temperatures under clear skies have dropped into the lower 40s early Monday morning.  Cool high pressure will remain in place for the early part of the week. With very low humidity, we'll see a decent temperature spread between daytime highs and this morning's lows. With abundant sunshine, afternoon temperatures should climb toward the 70 degree mark. Still below normal for this time of the year, but well above the 63 degree high we saw Sunday. Normal highs are approaching 80 this time of year with lows normally in the upper 60s.  Sunday was more typical of early February, and today will be more like early March. We should be back to normal on temperatures by the middle part of the week.

Dry weather and generally quiet weather will remain for most of the week. A gradual warm up with highs near 80 again by Wednesday. Humidity levels will return by the mid week, so overnight temperatures won't be as cool. There will be a weak cold front moving in late Wednesday, and stalling along the coast Thursday. Minimal rain chances are expected with this front, but some drier air Friday will allow temperatures to dip into the 50s Friday morning.

Another, more potent system will slide in for the weekend. This should bring a better chance for rain showers and thunderstorms. As of now, it appears the best chances for rain will be late Saturday into Sunday. Some severe weather will be possible across the South again, although this round may be a bit farther north of the Acadiana region.
