A member of the Evangeline Parish School Board was arrested this past weekend on drug charges in Sulphur.

Ellis Guillory Sr., 57, of Ville Platte, was booked with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of marijuana, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of drugs and possession of drugs. He posted $5,000 bond and was released, Calcasieu Parish jail records show.

The address and name on the jail's booking records matches those that the Louisiana Secretary of State has for the man who holds the District 12 seat on the Evangeline Parish School Board.

Guillory was arrested shortly before midnight Saturday night in the parking lot of a Sulphur night club, a sheriff's spokeswoman said.

A deputy doing a foot patrol in the area noticed Guillory sitting in his car for some time, and when Guillory saw the deputy he got out of the car and began walking toward the nightclub, the spokeswoman said. The deputy stopped him and asked what he was doing, she said. A search allegedly turned up a baggie of pot in his pocket, and a baggie of crack cocaine in his sock, the spokeswoman said. He also allegedly had a couple of pills in his pocket, she said.

A firearm was found in his vehicle, next to the driver's side seat, the spokeswoman said.

We tried calling Guillory but no one answered his telephone, and the voice mail was full.
