Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputies arrested a Barbe High student Monday for making threats.

The student, a 16-year-old boy, was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center with terrorizing.

Deputies were called to the school Monday at about 8 a.m. by the school's resource officer. Several students had reported that they heard the boy saying he wanted to kill people. Detectives spoke to the boy, and he allegedly admitted that he made the threat, a spokeswoman said.

CPSO Detective Melanie Veillon is the lead investigator in the case.
