Town council approves firing of Lake Arthur assistant police chief Keith Broussard

Posted: Updated:

According to the Jennings Daily News, Lake Arthur Assistant Police Chief Keith Broussard has been fired from his position.

The town council unanimously approved to fire Broussard, effective Wednesday, February 23, after he allegedly refused to take a drug test. The Jennings Daily News reports that Broussard was asked to take the drug test as part of an internal investigation into $900 in missing bond money.

During the investigation, Broussard was put on administrative leave with pay.  According to reports, Broussard had two days to take the drug test but failed to do so. At that time he attempted to turn in a letter of resignation.

The investigation into Broussard by the Lake Arthur Police Department is still ongoing.
