The good news is the family of 4 only received minor injuries.

The tornado quickly spun up near the town of Echo in Avoyelles parish early Sunday morning just after 7AM.

The National Weather Service believes the tornado had winds between 115-120 mph.

At the time of the tornado no warnings were issued for the area.

However, the National Weather Service had issued a special weather statement letting people know that a strong thunderstorm was in the area and capable of producing winds up to 40 mph.

Avoyelles parish is one of the toughest places for the NWS to properly issue weather warning since it is more than 100 miles from their radar.
