The NOPD has arrested a suspect in connection with threats made against UNO students Sunday afternoon.

Nicholas Heard, 20, was arrested Monday at his residence in the 8400 block of Willow Street in New Orleans.

NOPD executed a search warrant at the location but found no weapons.

On March 11, 2018, at 5:30 p.m., Heard is accused of making direct threats to fellow students attending UNO.

The New Orleans Police Department says they are searching for a suspect in connection with the threats that caused the University of New Orleans to close Monday, March 12.

Police say that 20-year-old Nicholas Heard is wanted on a charge of terrorizing after he allegedly threatened UNO students. Police say Heard stated that he would shoot several people on campus.

The department is asking anyone with information about the incident or Heard's whereabouts to contact Third District detectives at 658-6030 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The University of New Orleans says it's canceling classes over threats made by a student.
The university said in a statement late Sunday that classes would be canceled Monday.
The university said a student who lives in on-campus housing made violent threats against the university to two other students.
Police issued a warrant for the student's arrest. But until the suspect is in custody the university decided it was "not worth jeopardizing the safety of the members of our university community."
The university said employees should not report to work Monday, and students in on-campus housing should remain in their rooms.
Police officers will be posted at all entrances and exits on campus.
