LAFAYETTE, La. – Coming off of an extra innings win over in-state foe LSU, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team will host South Alabama in a rare non-conference series starting Friday at 6:30 p.m. at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
Game two of the series is slated for Saturday at 2 p.m., while the team two teams close out the weekend with a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.

Friday's contest will be broadcast live on Cox Sports Television (CST) and simulcast on ESPN3 outside of the CST viewing areas. Tommy Thrall and Tommy Krysan will call the action on CST. Games two and three of the series can be seen live on RaginCajuns.com with Dan McDonald providing play-by-play.

The Series
The Ragin' Cajuns trail South Alabama 62-47 in the all-time series despite having won 12 of the last 16 meetings. Louisiana took two of three games from the Jaguars a year ago at Russo Park winning 11-1 and 10-2 around a 6-0 defeat.
The Cajuns hold a 44-41 edge in the series since head coach Tony Robichaux took over the helm in 1995 including a 24-19 mark at home. The Ragin' Cajuns have won six of the last nine meetings in Lafayette.
Scouting Louisiana
Louisiana (5-7) picked up a 4-3 victory over No. 13 LSU in 10 innings on Wednesday to give the Cajuns two wins over ranked opponents in the last three contests. The Ragin' Cajuns are 2-2 at home this season after a 2-1 victory over Nicholls last week.
Junior Gavin Bourgeois continues to pace the offense hitting .289 with a double and four RBI. Bourgeois has reached base in seven straight games and has a team-best .385 on base percentage. Hunter Kasuls leads the team with seven RBI, while Daniel Lahare has three doubles and eight runs scored in eight starts.
Scouting South Alabama
South Alabama (7-6) comes into the series having lost five straight games, all to ranked opponents. The Jaguars were swept in a four-game series at No. 3 Texas Tech last weekend.
Offensively, USA is hitting .253 with 25 doubles, two triples and nine home runs. Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year Travis Swaggerty leads the club with a .390 average including four doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI. Well Davis is one of four South Alabama players with double-digit RBI boasting a team-best 14 on four doubles and two home runs.

Following the South Alabama series, the Cajuns head on the road for five straight games starting with a midweek contest at Tulane on March 13 at 6:30 p.m. Louisiana then opens the Sun Belt Conference slate at Georgia Southern March 16-18 before closing out the road swing at McNeese on March 21.
