Breezy & warmer Friday; Showers return Saturday

Posted: Updated:

After a chilly start with lows in the low to mid 40s we should warm up quickly Friday with highs getting back to normal conditions in the lower 70s.

The reason for the warm up will be winds flipping out of the south at 10-15 mph pushing warm Gulf air back over the region.

Saturday the pleasant, dry weather comes to an end.

Saturday morning an upper level shortwave low could ride along the Gulf coast producing scattered showers and a few thunderstorms for Acadiana.

Then as a bigger area of low pressure moves out of the Plains and into Arkansas it will keep a decent chance for hit or miss showers Saturday afternoon into the evening.

Late Saturday night we could have another round of scattered showers and a few storms as the actual cold front swings across Acadiana.

I don't think we will see any severe weather as that looks to stay further to the north along the Arkansas-Louisiana border but I would not rule out a couple strong storms with wind gusts up to 30-40 mph for Acadiana.

Sunday we should begin to clear out but it will be breezy with winds picking up out of the north at 10-20 mph and wind gusts up to 25-30 mph.

This northerly flow will pull down another round of cooler air as lows Monday morning will drop into the low to mid 40s.

And this cool air looks to stick around for a few days again as highs Monday through Wednesday will be below average in the low to mid 60s with overnight lows falling into the mid 40s.

By Thursday we will gradually warm up back to near 70 with plenty of sunshine and winds turning more easterly.

Friday we finally get a southerly flow again pushing temperatures into the mid 70s but the southerly winds will also push some moisture over Acadiana as slight rain chances could return late Friday into next Saturday.
