Arrest made in connection with Mardi Gras shooting in Rayne

Police say they have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that occurred on Mardi Gras night in the city.

Forrest Charles, 34, was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting that happened on Bailey Ave. on February 13, Mardi Gras night. Charles was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder and certain felon in possession of a firearm.

Other arrests made by the police department include 36-year-old Darrell Dugas who police say has not yet been booked into jail due to injuries he sustained during the shooting.

Charles has been booked into the Acadia Parish Jail on a $550,000 bond and was out on bond for another recent incident also involving a firearm.
