A Vermilion Parish grand jury indicted Jalen Levine this week in connection with a fatal December shooting.

Levine, 25, was indicted on one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a 14-year-old.

At the time of the shooting, police said the victim's family asked that his identity not be released. Back in December, police said the victim was able to identify Levine as the shooter before he died.

The court denied bond for Levine on the murder charge, but set bond at $100,000 on the attempted murder charge, records show.

The shooting happened the night of December 19 near the intersection Kibbe and Vernon streets. A warrant was issued for Levine, and he was arrested during a traffic stop in Broussard a few hours later.
