The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department is offering students in St. Mary Parish the opportunity to apply for the Louisiana Sheriffs' Scholarship Program.

One graduating high school senior will be awarded a scholarship in the amount of $500. To be eligible for the scholarship students must be permanent residents of Louisiana and must be enrolled as a full-time undergrad.

The Sheriff's department says there are no restrictions on how the scholarship can be spent once awarded, but the monies, once awarded, must be used for higher learning purposes within the state.

All completed applications should be submitted to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office by April 1. Applications can be found online at www.lsa.org.

The winner will be announced by May 1, 2018.

Applications are being accepted at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office on the 4th floor of the courthouse located at 500 Main Street in Franklin or at the Sheriff's Office in Morgan City at 1455 Railroad Avenue. Students can also mail in applications to P.O. Box 571 Franklin, LA 70538.
