Rice Festival hires new coordinator

Posted: Updated:

The International Rice Festival has hired a new festival coordinator and appointed three new board members, the Crowley Post-Signal reports

According to the newspaper, Shanna C. Morgan has been hired to be the new festival coordinator. Gene Williams, Giles Piron and Kevin Spell have been appointed new board members, the newspaper reports.

Quoting a statement from the board, the newspaper reports that a dispute over money led to the resignation of long-time coordinator, Roxie Viator, as well as three board members: her husband Jody Viator, her daughter Kira Viator Weber and Jonathon Habetz.

"A financial compensation agreement between the board of directors and the festival coordinator could not be reached, resulting in a personal decision to resign from her position as festival coordinator," the joint statement reads.

The festival is planned to proceed as always in the third weekend in October, October 17 through 21. To keep up with festival plans, click here.
