Student engineers at UL host expo

Posted: Updated:

The Student Chapter of the Louisiana Engineering Society at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, working with the College of Engineering, hosted Engineering and Technology Expo activities  today.

The events happen during the Spring Semester of each academic year to celebrate the important role of engineering and technology in meeting the present and future needs of society.

According to the group, the activities are designed to engage students, faculty, alumni, and the community in interesting events which showcase the engineering and technology professions and increase interest in and appreciation of the complex ways in which engineering and technology impact the world around us. The E&T Expo highlights opportunities in Engineering and Technology for High School students.

"I think its really important to inspire the youth today to look for stem, science, technology, engineering, math, related majors and to see the real world application outside of the classroom," said Robert Southers, audit manager for Stennis Space Center.
