UL nursing students helping out homeless

Posted: Updated:

UL nursing students are helping out the homeless at St. Bernadette's clinic for their outreach initiative.

Students held a screening to provide blood pressure and oxygen level checks for free for those who need them.

Officials at St. Bernadette's clinic say they use the students' services every year to help navigate people through health care.

"A lot of these people even though they have Medicaid and other types of insurance to cover, some of these people they still don't have the resources to tap into," said Bridget Simpson, Nurse Practitioner. "Some of those things, some of them don't know how to navigate the medical system. That's why we are here."
