A Sulphur man is dead after a vehicle turned in front of the motorcycle he was riding last night.

Monday night around 9 p.m. State Police were called to an accident on U.S. 90 east of Sulphur.

Troopers say Raymond Wayne Ravia, 42, was traveling west on a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. An eastbound car, driven by Kateland Denise Williams, 20, of Lake Charles, turned in front of the motorcycle, which hit the car. Ravia was thrown off the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. He was wearing a helmet.

WIlliams sustained minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

Motorcycles are smaller than other vehicles and are more difficult to see.  Drivers are asked to always watch for motorcycles.

In 2018, Troop D has investigated 5 fatal crashes resulting in 5 deaths.

This is the second fatal motorcycle crash investigated by Troop D in Calcasieu Parish this year.
