Human Society of Louisiana holding month-long support campaign for St. Landry Animal Shelter

Posted: Updated:

The Humane Society of Louisiana is asking for help from the public in assisting them in providing the St. Landry Animal Control department with supplies to help their efforts to serve animals in need.

The society is kicking-off a month-long community support campaign and is asking those from surrounding communities to donate materials that will provide the shelter with needed resources to continue their animal rescue efforts.

According to the Humane Society, the shelter is in need of the following items:

square bales of hay
clumping cat litter
new computer
uniforms for their staff
new catch poles
cat traps

The society is hoping to raise at least $10,000 in contributions or in-kind donations for the shelter. Those wishing to make a contribution or donation can drop off checks made out to St. Landry Parish at the St. Landry Parish Animal Control located at 225 Hanger Road in Opelousas. In the check memo space write in "for St. Landry Animal Control."

The Human society says that items purchased by those wishing to support the program can be delivered in person to the St. Landry Parish Animal Control.
