Police also released additional details today.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday in the 900 block of West Fifth Street, a spokesman said. According to reports, Dugas forced his way into a residence and began to punch a female victim and stab her with a pair of scissors. A male subject in the residence attempted to confront Dugas to cease the altercation, at which time the male subject was stabbed by Dugas, the spokesman said.
Officers responded and encountered Dugas still in the residence and still with the weapon in his hand. After a brief struggle with the suspect, officers were able to subdue the suspect, at which time stab wounds were discovered on the suspect rendered by the male victim of the residence. Dugas was then transported to the hospital and transferred at that time to a local regional facility, the spokesman said.
